New President & CEO at Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V.
Eric Wepierre, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe (MME), has decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities elsewhere, effective July 1st, 2021.
On the same day, he will be replaced by Frank Krol, who will pick up the mantle in the perspective of MME’s transition to a new business model in the region.
Eric Wepierre joined MME in January 2020 to amplify and develop Mitsubishi Motors’ leading position in Europe in the strategic area of electrified SUVs with the Outlander PHEV global best seller.
The extra-ordinary circumstances of 2020 added a major and unexpected new layer of responsibility, guiding MME through the COVID-19 pandemic both as an organization and as a business, as well as beginning regional implementation of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s global Mid-Term Plan.
During this period, MME managed both to retain Outlander PHEV’s #1 position in Europe amongst PHEV SUVs*, as well as to prepare the launch of the sharp new Eclipse Cross PHEV to Europe.
Commenting on the last eighteen months, Eric Wepierre said:
“The unexpected events of 2020 brought a challenge that could not have been imagined just months before – to guide the company, our people and our business through an unprecedented set of circumstances. I feel extremely proud of what the whole MME team accomplished in this unique environment, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the MME management and staff, and obviously our Distributor partners in the field as well.”
Remarking on his appointment, Frank Krol said:
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead MME as we prepare to start an exciting new chapter for Mitsubishi Motors in Europe. Knowing first-hand the excellent reputation and passion for the Mitsubishi Motors brand throughout the business in the region, we have solid foundations upon which to build a strong future for Mitsubishi Motors in Europe, from the just-launched Eclipse Cross PHEV to the introduction of new models developed by Renault on Alliance platforms”.
Elaborating on these senior management changes at MME, John Signoriello – MMC’s Executive Officer, Global Marketing & Sales said:
“Since early last year Mitsubishi Motors Europe has been navigating through the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, whilst also making the necessary structural changes in relation to the implementation of MMC’s mid-term plan. We would like to thank Eric for his contribution in leading the company during this challenging period.”
Signoriello continued: “Frank Krol brings a wealth of experience having held a number of key roles during his 20 years with Mitsubishi Motors in Europe – in sales and after sales, at HQ and distributor level - more recently as Sales Director of MME and Managing Director Mitsubishi Motors Sales Nederland. This experience will be key at a critical time for the Mitsubishi Motors brand in Europe, as we enter the next phase in building a new business model in the region with the support of the Alliance”.
